Putting the light on desplay to sell your home.

A bright home is a cheery home and a cheery home doesn’t stay on the market very long. One of the most important things you can do regarding the natural light in your home is to make sure your windows are crystal clear and that your windowsills (if you even have them in your house) are kept clean of dust. Also, don’t forget about replacing worn out blinds or drapes. These items are often kept closed for privacy but when you are selling your home you need to make sure you are letting in as much natural light as possible because a bright house gives the illusion of being bigger than it is.

Now if a window should happen to face an eyesore or a less than attractive feature, for instance an unsightly fence or a high tension wire, then you could keep the drapes or blind closed. Remember you are trying to accentuate the positives. In all cases though you need to make sure you are still maintaining a neat appearance.

Lastly make sure that your light fixtures are all sporting new 100 watt bulbs. Let the new home owner replace them with environmentally friendly lower light bulbs. Right now you are trying to show off your house and a bright house shows better than a dim house. If you have any questions about these suggestions please do not hesitate to call me in the office.
